Conclusion

Golden Rice if deployed will be able to support poor areas that suffer poverty, food shortage and vitamin A deficiency (VAD) which will also economically support the country that holds the certain poor area. Although the amount of advantages might seem to overwhelm the disadvantages of the golden rice. The public still needs to know the limitations that the golden rice is able to do, overestimating the golden rice is a fatal mistake that is potentially able to harm innocents.
Although one of the golden rice's main goal to be created is to fight and hopefully make vitamin A deficiency a thing of the past, most of the people who had and have heard of the golden rice project has at one point most likely assumed that the golden rice alone will be able to fight vitamin A deficiency (VAD), it is a mistake that is proved to be fatal. The golden rice although supports a considerable amount of vitamin A, it is still important to eat foods such as fruits and vegetables that support higher vitamin A supply. The golden rice will not be able to battle vitamin A alone as it does not have enough vitamin A to be able to do that.
Having said that the golden rice will not be able to fight vitamin A alone. This brings to the second importance of this post which is why golden rice is not going to impact the world too much. Although it will support countries that heavily depend on the golden rice such as Indonesia, Vietnam and China, it will not be able to support too much. Its effect had been recently been much more discussed than ever before and it has been revealed that it is not that effective. Although this will help a lot to countries that suffer food scarcity and poverty, it will most likely go to the middle to high class statues population. The reason why it would most likely go to middle to high class population, unless the lower class would receive a cheaper golden rice or receive donation, the middle to high class would most probably buy the golden rice much more and faster than the lower class. This is why it won't make an impact because it won't save and avoid VAD, it would most probably only avoid those people in the middle to high class status.
To end this post, the limitations of the golden rice is usually over exaggerated which is why it would not make an impact. And even if the golden rice had a fair amount of vitamin A to fight vitamin A deficiency (VAD) it would probably only affect those in the middle class to high class population. This is why the golden rice would not impact too much on society even though it might be able to do so.

Advantages and Disadvantages to Golden Rice

The golden rice's main goal is to battle Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD). It is a problem that has killed thousands of innocent children under the age of 5, and millions of people all over the world. The solution to battle VAD is very simple, it is to spread golden rice worldwide and specifically to areas that suffer poverty, food scarcity and VAD areas. Although the solution is very simple, to deploy golden rice worldwide. There are some advantages and disadvantages to deploying these golden rice around the world. In this post we will discuss about why we should spread the golden rice or why we shouldn't spread the golden rice.
To start off the list of advantages to golden rice, we will start with how it will help in areas that are short in food and suffer poverty. Golden rice offers a high amount of Vitamin A compared to other sources of carbohydrate such as white rice. Golden rice will improve life in areas that are short in food, because if the golden rice was deployed people will not need to eat a carbohydrate such as white rice or potatoes and find another source of food which is rich. Now people can simply eat golden rice without worrying to find another source of Vitamin A.
A disadvantage to that will affect the area if the amount of golden rice is too much or too little in an area that is scarce in food source is that there will be riots and problems between the people that suffer poverty and people who deployed the golden rice. Too much of the golden rice will result in a possible competition between the farmers around the area and the people who deployed the golden rice. Too little of the golden rice will result in people fighting over getting the golden rice grains. If the right amount of golden rice is deployed there will still be problems as some people might think there isn't enough golden rice for them and they will either fight with other individuals in the area or against the company who deployed the golden rice demanding for more.
Here are some of the disadvantages and advantages of the Golden Rice taken from BBC. The first few disadvantages of the Golden Rice are that they fear that if we cross-breed wild rice with the genetics needed to make the golden rice, it will be feared that they will get contaminated. They also fear that it will harm people and worry that the beta carotene levels will not be high enough to make an impact. And lastly they fear that the GM organisms will be expensive and they will not be able to mass produce making them unable to make a worldwide impact.
Now, here are some of the advantages that will be brought upon by the Golden Rice project. The Golden Rice includes GM insulin, and these GM insulins are able to create high quantities of insulin easier, it is also less likely to cause and adverse reaction, and it will be able to overcome ethical concerns from vegetarians and others. These are the advantages that will be brought upon by the Golden Rice according to BBC.
Another list of pros and cons brought by the Golden Rice are written in an article that can be found in OccupyTheory. We will first start with the pros of the Golden Rice, according to OccupyTheory the golden rice is much more nutritious that the wild rice which will aid countries such as India and Vietnam who rely rice as they main food source. It will also improve economic status of most countries whose money had been lost due to illness and death. And finally it will also bring better Agricultural Advantages, instead of only making the Golden Rice superior to the wild rice, it will also provide higher crop yields and will decrease the pesticide on the farms. These are the pros according to OccupyTheory.
To finish the list of cons brought by Golden Rice, the golden rice can potentially bring corruption and they fear it will bring corrupt leaders to power. They fear that due to government regulations, golden rice will be to expensive to buy for those who truly need them. And finally the health benefits might be counter productive because it might make people exaggerate the benefits of the Golden Rice and instead of getting better health condition, they might worsen as they will only eat golden rice as they main nutrition source instead of vegetables and fruits. Here are the cons of the Golden Rice according to OccupyTheory.

Problems and Solutions of Golden Rice

Golden rice is a genetically modified rice which is rich in vitamin A. The idea of the golden rice programs was annouced in 2000 along with its details. It was led by Ingo Potrykus of the Swiss Federal Institue of Technology and Peter Beyer of the University of Freidburg. When it was first annouced in 2000 it was considered a breakthrough as it was able to help cure diseases such as Vitamin A deficiency that killed thousands of children under the age of 5.
Golden Rice is made by GMO, it is according to Wikipedia produced through genetic engineering to biosynthesized beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A, in the edible parts of rice. These genetics are conducted on wild rice which will then become the golden rice.
After 5 years of research, Golden Rice 2 was annouced, it was much better than the original golden rice as produces up to 23 times more beta carotene than the first golden rice. Golden rice poses no threat to humans as it had no negative side effects. Studies shown that in the areas where golden rice is used, it shows no threat to any of the individuals who consumed golden rice.
The main problem that the golden rice is made to solve is for the golden rice project is to battle Vitamin A deficiency that has killed thousands of children and millions of people around the world. If the golden rice was accepted as a source of food by society, it will first be sent of to rural and place that suffer poverty and food scarcity. The golden rice will not differ very much than the standard white rice as it's creation is from a white rice plant. Although the genetic structure of the golden rice and the white rice differs, it isn't so different as it will still be used as a main source of carbohydrate in most countries like the white rice.
The golden rice's publicity increased ever since it had became one of the seven winners of the 2015 Patents of Humanity Awards. Although the golden rice project means well and it only wants a better future for countries and areas that suffer Vitamin A deficiency, Some 'Anti Globalization' and 'Enviromentalist' supporters has protested the creation of the golden rice and the continue production of the golden rice. It had even went as far as a group of activist that destroyed and burned a golden rice crop in Philippines.
Some Problems that golden rice will be aimed at by the golden rice is Vitamin A deficiency, poverty and food scarcity. Solutions that the golden rice will bring if accepted by society is that people will no longer need to find different sources for Vitamin A since now the golden rice will be able to support that. People will not longer need to find white rice and another source for the Vitamin A, but now people will just need to consume the golden rice.
To end this post, the golden rice is a beneficial crop that's main goal is to battle diseases that involve the lack of vitamin A.
